Who are you?
I’m a writer, communicator, editor and a leaf on the wind. Above all, I’m as a storyteller. Never tell me the odds. I live in Calgary with my wife Candice and two cats, and drink a lot of tea.
What do you write?I wrote urban fantasy before it was cool. Now I mostly write epic fantasy and science fiction, although my previous project was a fantasy mystery novel. I also write short stories and flash fiction. I’ve done NaNoWriMo for ten years.
Where can I read what you’ve written?
When did you figure out you were a writer?
In the sixth grade, our teacher assigned us to write a one or two page story. I wrote twenty seven pages, and I was nowhere near being finished. Other teachers have told me that I was prolific for years before this.
Who is your favourite villain?
Dr. Horrible. He has a PHD in Horribleness.
How many hats do you own?
What authors have influenced you?
There are a number of authors I’ve drawn on in the past. They include Timothy Zahn, Dave Farland, David Gemmell, and R.A. Salvatore. I’m currently drawing influence from George R.R. Martin, Michael A. Stackpole, Brandon Sanderson and David Weber.
I want to know more about you for some reason.
I’m flattered! The best way is probably to follow me on twitter, @markhorejsi. You can also contact me at mark.horejsi at gmail.com.
